The 3rd annual Black Women in Food (BWIF) Summit is April 25-26 this year! BWIF empowers, uplifts, and supports professionals in the food and beverage industry, helping them advance their careers and drive a more equitable and sustainable food system. BWIF began as an initiative of Dine Diaspora, founded by Maame Boakye and Nina Oduro. Through their work connecting people and brands to African diaspora food culture, they saw the need for intentional efforts to address the limited opportunities for professionals of color, particularly Black women, to grow in their food-focused careers. They developed programs to foster a more diverse and equitable future in the food industry, as a response to the gaps. I love that this mixer was held at Elmina. First of all, I can’t wait to come back and have a sit down experience because I really enjoyed the food I tried, which included the kelewele (fried sweet plantain), crispy okra fries, kpakpo chicken kabobs, and prawn kabobs. Everything was excellent and the bold flavors from the chicken kabobs especially were exciting! The interior is gorgeous and is multiple levels. I also tried all three cocktails on the special menu for the mixer: the cultural essence (an elevated version of the Elmina clarified punch). It was an elevated version of the Elmina Clarified Punch, crafted with Martell Blue Swift, Papaya, Tamarind, Lemon, Yogurt Clarification, and Alligator Pepper Tincture, representing the intersection of culture, history, and innovation led by Black women. Also tried the Soul & Spice - A reinterpretation of the Gold Coast Margarita, with Olmeca Altos tequila a fusion of flavors that celebrates the spirit and essence of Black women and their contributions to the food industry. And lastly I tried Queen’s Resilience- Inspired by the Tree of Life, this smooth and tropical drink with Coconut-washed Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Mango, Lemon, and Palm Sugar represents the strength and enduring legacy of Black women at the forefront of culinary innovation. They were all delicious! #BlackWomenInFood #BlackWomenInFoodSummit #WashingtonDC #Elmina #DCFoodie #DMVFoodie

Kash Patel, a former national security official has just been confirmed as the new FBI Director. Kash has spoken about the UFO / UAP issue before. In past interviews, Patel talked about the national security risks of UAP, saying, “This should be concerning for all citizens.” Now, as head of the FBI, he has access to classified investigations. Could this mean more UFO transparency? #UFO #UAP #KashPatel #Disclosure #FBI #Conspiracy #Aliens #nhi #fyp
