Youthjuice - E.K. Sathue 3.5/5 âī¸âī¸âī¸đĢ âThe deck is stacked against a girl from the second she recognizes herself in a mirror.â Sophia Bannion is pushing 30 and feeling aimless. Tweaking her resume just a bit, she lands a job as a copywriter at Hebe- a luxury skincare company. When her boss asks her to test and review a new product called Youthjuice, it doesnât take long for her to realize this isnât your typical cold cream. When she finds out the source of the secret ingredient, she decides that sheâs willing to push the ethical boundaries for a taste of the fountain of youth. I love a good coming-of-rage and I had very high hopes for this book. The writing was engaging, quick, witty, and at times gruesome. The timelines flash between current day and Sophieâs adolescence. Unfortunately most of the flashbacks fell flat for me. The timelines felt unrelated for a long time, but eventually became clear that the purpose was that of a villain origin story. And of course with a horror novel about toxic beauty industry standards, I couldnât help but compare to Rogue by Mona AwodâĻand Youthjuice just didnât live up to it. #review #bookreview #youthjuice #bookreviewer #horror #horrorreader #horrorreview #horrorbooks #horrorbookstagram #horrorbook #books #book #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #BookTok
