Archaeology supports biblical claims - There are a lot of archaeological discoveries that support what the Bible has been saying all along. For example a stone tablet with the name of Pontius Pilate, who according to the Bible was involved in the trial of Jesus, was discovered. It reads, “Pontius Pilate, Prefect of Judea.” The ossuary of Caiaphas, the Jewish high priest who presided over the trial of Jesus as described in the book of Matthew, has been discovered. The inscriptions read “Caiaphas” and “Joseph, son of Caiaphas.” It contained the bones of six people, including Caiaphas himself. Also, a limestone box has been discovered which appears to contain the bones of James, Jesus’ half-brother. The inscription reads “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus.” Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus, was excavated. Among the finds are olive oil presses and many different artifacts from the time of Christ as described in Matthew 2:23 and 4:13. Jacob’s well, where Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman in John 4:1-42, was discovered near Mount Gerizim. Archaeology keeps proving the Bible accurate.
