Happy Workout Wednesday babes!! 💪🏼♿️These 3 back exercises are staples in my weekly workout routines, and have helped to strengthen my back significantly, AND as a result, my wheelchair transfers have improved significantly too!! Let’s get into the why⬇️⬇️ 1️⃣Wide Grip Lat Pulldown—this can be down with a band as shown in the video above, either anchored into a door at home, held overhead with tension, or a cable machine at the gym. ✨This exercise not only works the largest muscle in our backs—the latissimus dorsi—but the overhead pulling motion that you do with this exercise not only strengthens that muscle, but it recruits and works other muscles in your shoulders and arms as well! ✨Stronger lats = more stable and stronger shoulders = easier and stronger transfers! 2️⃣Alternating Palm Up Row — this can be down with a band as shown above, or dumbbells. ✨This exercise is working SO many muscle groups as well —your lats, rhomboids (in-between your shoulder blades), biceps, wrists, and abdominals! With the alternating motion, you are recruiting more of your abdominal muscles, and by having your palms up, you are working your biceps and the front of your shoulders as well. ✨By strengthening all of these muscle groups, not only will your shoulders be more stable, but your core will be stronger to improve your wheelchair transfers! 3️⃣Criss Cross or Cross Body Row — alternating or not! This can also be down with a band as shown above, or dumbbells. ✨This exercise, like the 2 I discussed above, also strengthen the lats, rhomboids, core and shoulders.
