the first time ever used a hotline was this year. it was the middle of the night, and i was so overcome by my thoughts. the pain I was feeling inside was so debilitating, I physically could not speak to ask for help. so I messaged the 988 crisis hotline, and sobbed while I explained to them how much pain I was in. I was shaking as I typed out my thoughts, and waited for their responses. they helped me calm down, make a plan to ask for help in the morning, and eventually fall asleep. And toward the end of the message thread, the person I spoke with said this: "but how hard you are working to continue on is a huge deal." every time i read those words i cry. they are so right! despite the pain. despite the darkness. despite how scary it feels to keep going on. you getting up every single fucking day, fighting to survive, is worth celebrating from the roof tops. keep clawing. keep climbing. keep fighting. keep pulling yourself out of the pit you're stuck in. until you are out of the darkness and in the sun screaming "i made it out alive.' to anyone out there feeling overcome by their dark thoughts: I see you. i love you. you are NOT your dark thoughts. your life as meaning, and I promise one day you will live a life worth staying alive for. you will survive this. 🫶🏽💖
