March 25, 2025, Mr. Yutthana Wimonmueang, head of the Anti-Corruption Group, Office of the NACC (National Anti-Corruption Commission) of Trang Province, as the inspection team for corruption prevention measures related to national park management, led a team to the Similan Islands National Park, Phang Nga Province, to inspect the transparency of operations. Initially, it was reported that before the inspection, the NACC had announced a schedule to inspect the mainland (Similan Islands National Park office) first in the morning. However, it appeared that the NACC sent a team of approximately 20 officers to conduct random inspections at Koh Si and Koh Paet simultaneously without prior notice to Acting Sub. Lt. Rittikorn Noonloy, head of the Similan Islands National Park. As a result of the inspection, it was found that there were e-ticket bookings for Thais not exceeding 10 people, priced at 100 baht per adult and 50 baht per child per boat. However, the NACC's count on the beach revealed no Thai people, but instead found 50 foreigners. Normally, the price for foreigners is 500 baht per adult and 250 baht per child. Additionally, 10 more boats were found, which fall under the category of a "ghost ticket" scam. The matter is currently under detailed investigation before further action is taken. #thailand #phangnga
