As a Civil Engineer, so much captures my attention when I travel—it’s truly a feast for the senses! On the one hand, the intricate details of urban planning fascinate me, as do the way every element harmonizes to create a vibrant city that reflects its unique cultural practices and lifestyle. I wanted to take a moment to share a bit more about my recent trip to Germany. Traveling outside the United States isn't something I get to do often, so I made a concerted effort to soak in my surroundings and truly appreciate how different life can be in a place with a well-functioning public transportation system. It was refreshing to see people leisurely exploring the city, contrasting with the often car-centric lifestyle back home. I've already shared some insights from my journey, but I have a few more videos and experiences that I'd love to showcase. One aspect that amazes me as an engineer is the variety of materials used in construction—each has its unique texture and application that contributes to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the structures. I find bridges particularly inspiring; they embody engineering ingenuity and artistry. Public transportation systems are another area of fascination for me. I sincerely appreciate observing how effectively they operate and how they integrate into daily life. Additionally, I have a particular admiration for airports—there’s something awe-inspiring about the complex truss designs that support such vast spaces. What about you? What aspects of traveling do you find most captivating? I'd love to hear your thoughts! -SofĂa's Journal Entry for the Month #CivilEngineering #WomenInSTEM #GirlsInCivil #ingenieracivil #girlsincivilengineering #engineering #womeninengineering #traveltiktok #germany #architecture #urbanplanning
